Last weekend, I had the great pleasure of working with Jimmy and his family as he was called to the Torah for the first time at Temple B’Nai Chaim in Georgetown, CT. Jimmy was so composed, relaxed and prepared for his big moment, and the party afterwards was wonderful.   BLOGPHOTO01 BLOGPHOTO02 BLOGPHOTO03 BLOGPHOTO04 BLOGPHOTO05 BLOGPHOTO06

I have to say, his little sister Ava did a great job with her tasks including opening the ark with her cousin Winona.

I absolutely love the tradition of passing the Torah from grandparent to parent to child. It’s a lovely custom, and one of the most meaningful parts of the service.

Her special dance with her son was absolutely a parental victory lap, a moment to remember as Jimmy grows into a man. Not this crew! The kids had an amazing time rocking out on the dance floor and playing games, in part because Jimmy’s friends are a pretty great bunch but also due to the awesomeness of  DJ Rob and MC Shuga from More Than Music.     BLOGPHOTO57 BLOGPHOTO58 BLOGPHOTO59 BLOGPHOTO60 BLOGPHOTO61 BLOGPHOTO62   Finally, I have to give a shout-out to Ashley and her team from Ashley Douglass Events. Ashley was wonderful to work with, and she really pulled together an amazing team, including fabric decorations and event rentals by Social Decor, flowers by Fleurish, amazing food by Marcia Selden Catering, festive balloons by Tasteful Treats,  and much hilarity courtesy of Studio Z Photo Booth.
