Did you see my entry below about photographing the last day a family of three became four? Yes? In that case, everyone, please meet “Four” a.k.a Miss Riley, in this sneak peek from her newborn session on Tuesday. She is so sweet and tiny and new.

Blake, who is 2, is so excited. He’s learning to be extra gentle, but there’s so much love between him and his baby sister already. Thank you so much, Bernard and Kelisha, for letting me spend so much time with your new baby girl. Enjoy!

I just managed to squeeze in a maternity session with Kelisha and Bernard on their baby girl’s due date. I got really lucky because Kelisha started having contractions shortly after I left. Baby Riley is here! I also have to confess that I was completely charmed by big brother Blake. He was so sweet and smart, pointing out and (accurately!) naming cars by brand as we walked to a nearby park on one of the first “nice” weather days (a balmy 39 degrees Fahrenheit) we’ve had in a while. I can’t wait to take photos of their newborn daughter in the next week or so, but even more than that, I feel really honored and privileged to be with them documenting their last day as a family of three. Congrats!

Earlier this summer, I had the BEST mother-baby session with little Sophie and her mom Frederique. Sophie was a little slow to warm up, reserving her best smiles for a little while, but oh, once she got going? The smiles were pure sunshine.

I have to say, in a couple of years when Joel and I are ready to start a family, I hope I find a new mom’s group as cool as Teran and Freddy’s.) These ladies have been so great, and I’ve been having so much fun with the bebes. I’m so appreciative of the way they’ve been passing my name onto friends and family, including Freddy’s sister-in-law Eleanor.

Joel and I went down to Sea Girt for our anniversary weekend earlier this month, and we shot the session on the beach, a nearby park and around Spring Lake, NJ. Thanks so much for letting me photograph your kids, you guys! I’d love to see you all again. (And oh, I will have more stickers for bribes. Oh, yes. 😉

You might remember when I blogged about a maternity session a couple of months ago with Teran and her husband Jim. Last weekend I got to meet their baby girl! Nila is 9-weeks-old and so, so sweet. It’s still so miraculous to me that the same little kicker who was inside just a few short months ago is actually here. Back in March, they asked if we could work a soccer ball into some of the shots, since both Teran and Jim play on the weekends. Shooting the parents’ wedding rings dangling on tiny toes is becoming kind of a trendy pose these days, but I have to say, it’s one of my favorites.

Nila is an absolute angel who really wasn’t a fan of my big portrait lights, so we posed her in some of her favorite places: the bath, the swing and in her parents’ arms. Still, that pouty lower lip just cracks me UP. Thank you so much for letting me spend so much time with your baby girl, you guys. You have a beautiful family, and I’m so happy for you.
