Sneak Peek: Kristen and Peter’s Western Wedding, Part 2

I hope you all got to see day 1 of Peter and Kristen’s wedding! Day 2 was equally emotional and lovely. I love that Peter and Kristen, who were about to get married for the third time if you count the legal ceremony in California and the Khmer wedding the day before, wept with joy when they saw each other during their “first look.” They were so wonderful to put their complete trust in me and Joel the next day, moving from rock outcropping to waterfall to beach to park to gazebo to sunset for pictures. They never doubted our vision, and their posed portraits were some of our favorite shots… until I got to the reception.

You would never guess that these newlyweds had a crazy day the day before, with five outfit changes, hours of chanting, meditation and half a dozen rituals. Their energy was endless! Kristen tore up the dance floor with her father, with the kids, with Peter’s relatives. It didn’t matter if she was doing the horah, dancing to traditional Cambodian love songs with the groom’s family, tearing it up with her dad in one of the best father/daughter dances I’ve seen in a long time or busting out the choreography Souja Boy’s “Superman Crank That!” with her friends, she was 100% having a blast at this reception. Peter basks in her glow, and she shines because of his love. They are perfect for each other.

Overall, the energy in the room was tremendous. I worked 24 hours in a 40-hour period, more if you count travel and computer time backing up Saturday’s photos when I got home. I didn’t even feel tired until the very end. When it came to the last song, Joel my second shooter/husband extraordinaire asked, “Ready to pack it in?” I paused… and then the dance floor broke out in the exuberant Irish pub song “Home For A Rest,” and I know there had to be complete documentation until the very last moment of the party. I shouted over the music, “GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE!” and we shot until the final chord of the song when Kristen triumphantly raised her arm in the air as Peter kissed her cheek. It was a beautiful day, an amazing celebration for a wonderful couple. I’m just going to let these pictures speak for themselves. Except for one last thing… I’m so happy for you guys! Congratulations!

We will follow your vision to the ends of the Earth or until a grandmother death glares at us. Once again, beautiful work, and thank you!
