Last week, I got the most intereting email. Haley had just been denied her fiancee visa, so she wasn’t able to return to Scotland, where she’d been living with her fiancee and planning her August wedding. Long story short, she was flying to New York from Oregon. Ross was flying in from the UK. They were going to get married in New York. Could I come take pictures? Yes! Three last-minute airline tickets were booked for the groom’s parents and brother, and everyone *just managed* to make it out of Heathrow before an Icelandic volcano grounded all the planes in and out of Europe. Whew!

The best news is that they’re legally hitched and can officially plan the rest of their lives, starting with a wedding in London this August…. which I just might get to shoot, too…. so exciting! Congratulations, you guys!

Here’s a sneak preview of a family session I shot last Sunday in New Jersey! Hello, handsome! Hunter, who is almost one, was in a fantastic mood for our session, even though my presence was definitely mixing up his routine- a bottle BEFORE a fruit snack? Standing in the crib when it’s not naptime OR bedtime? Big portrait lights magically appearing in the living room while he was getting a diaper change? A bath in the middle of the day- what? what? what? And yet, he’s such a happy baby; he took it all in stride. Now I’ve got to get back to editing the rest of our shoot. Thank you, cuteness.

Today I got to shoot Heather and Dan’s Christmas-y wedding at the Round Hill House in Washingtonville! This was the first wedding I’ve ever been to where lots of my old high school besties and Joel’s and my contemporary New York friends combined for one awesome party. Their wedding announcement actually made the New York Times, which was so exciting, and yes, that IS a picture of the bride running around a gas station parking lot in her veil and hiking boots. Have a wonderful honeymoon in Argentia, you guys! Congratulations!

Earlier this summer, I had the BEST mother-baby session with little Sophie and her mom Frederique. Sophie was a little slow to warm up, reserving her best smiles for a little while, but oh, once she got going? The smiles were pure sunshine.

I have to say, in a couple of years when Joel and I are ready to start a family, I hope I find a new mom’s group as cool as Teran and Freddy’s.) These ladies have been so great, and I’ve been having so much fun with the bebes. I’m so appreciative of the way they’ve been passing my name onto friends and family, including Freddy’s sister-in-law Eleanor.

Joel and I went down to Sea Girt for our anniversary weekend earlier this month, and we shot the session on the beach, a nearby park and around Spring Lake, NJ. Thanks so much for letting me photograph your kids, you guys! I’d love to see you all again. (And oh, I will have more stickers for bribes. Oh, yes. 😉
