If you’ve noticed that things have been a little quiet around here lately, it’s because I had a baby! I had a lot of lofty plans to post my personal travel and nature photography here, blog often and show you lots of baby photos.
That did not happen, but hey look! Here is a cool photo I shot in London six months ago that I never shared!
Somehow, six weeks have gone by since my son’s birth, and none of that has happened. C-section recovery is no joke, and I wanted to be back in top form, energy wise, for the events that I had booked for March.
I shot my first wedding since his birth last Saturday, and I am back to work full-time, officially. I’ll be updating here again starting later today with a sneak peek from my first wedding back, so stay tuned!
Meanwhile, here are a few of our first studio session… Lots of baby pictures to come, I promise!

Not too long ago, I was working on a shoot with an old college friend. We’re both working for ourselves and carving out a living for ourselves with photography and videography. She said something like, “I never would have thought that you would end up primarily shooting weddings.” She wasn’t being critical or disparaging in that statement, because she knows how much my wedding clients mean to me, both personally and professionally.
But I was surprised to hear her say that, because I’m still shooting photojournalism assignments about five days a week. In fact, this is technically the “slow season” for weddings, since my next one isn’t until April- (Erika, if you’re reading, I know you’re around here occasionally- hi!) so most of my wedding work right now is in editing and post-production. Anyway, I realized that the reason she doesn’t think I’m shooting news any more is because I don’t blog about it. Huh. Oops.
So here’s a roundup of some of my best work from the past month, plus this link to some of my work that ran in the New York Times the day I got back from India but never got around to blogging about with all the jet lag and laundry and smooching my husband to catch up on. To sum up: breaking news, political events, fires, weather, school features, life and style, sports… You name it, I’m still shooting it almost every day.
