There were so many wonderful things about Carol and Elizabeth’s wedding in Garden City this past weekend. During the ceremony, Elizabeth recalled three questions Carol asked her when they first met. 1.) “How do feel about the New York Mets?” 2.) “Do you like dogs?” and 3.) “Are you okay with kids? Because I have one.” And that right there sums up the influences that inspired their beautiful, amazing wedding.
It’s no accident that the bridesmaids wore blue and orange, that the bouquets were made of orange and blue flowers, or that Mr. Met the mascot made an appearance at the reception. The cake topper was a custom-made sculpture of Elizabeth and Carol’s dogs, (wearing Mets accessories, of course), and some of my favorite moments of the day involved Caleigh, the brides’ 17-year-old daughter. From the Mrs. and Mrs. Disney pins to her beautiful speech, to the family dance at the reception, Caleigh radiates beauty, both outside and in, and she’s a testament to her moms’ efforts to build a loving family. (Even if she did go upstairs to change her shoes at the start of the reception, leaving me to kill time by telling jokes while to all 80 guests assembled for a group photo while balancing on a chair over the dance floor.) All in a day’s work, which, when you get to document a wedding for a couple as lovely as Carol and Elizabeth, is pretty much the best job ever. Thanks so much for having me be there for your big day!
